WMV‘s Artist Of The Week Shenseea performed tracks from her new album “Never Gets Late Here” at City Splash at Brockwell Park UK on Monday and the crowd was having every moment of it.

The Interscope artist came out dressed in full red starting off with her Shenyeng Anthem which the audience helped her to sing word for word.

She reeled off a few of her known hits and then went into “Work Me Out,” her collaboration with Nigerian singer Wizkid.

The singer also performed Hit & Run which was well received by the crowd at Brockwell Park. She told WMV in an exclusive interview that the song featuring Masicka and produced by Stephen “Di Genius,” which is being charted in over 40 countries is dedicated to an ex-flame.

“I had to double back for a little sort out,” she said, laughing. On a more serious note, the top streaming artist shared that the song was a deliberate call to arms for her core base as well as a way to spark interest in new fans.

“It was intentional. I feel like there was such a stigma around my name. I was like, where did this come from all of a sudden? I feel like people lost sight of my ability and what I could do musically.”

“Me and Masicka had been looking to collaborate for a long time,” she said. “I know it’s a hit, but because of the stigma, I felt like people were gonna shoot it down anyway. So I said, you know what, what do you think about this song? To my surprise, he loved it, and he saw the power of the song early and he hopped on it and it did do what it was supposed to do for both of us. All parties are extremely happy have not regrets; it’s in our top 5 on Spotify,” Shenseea said.

Reggae singer Capleton graced the City Splash stage in his first UK performance in 13 years.
