Dancehall star Shenseea is set to launch her charity foundation, aimed at serving those in need both in Jamaica and globally.

“She is going to very soon establish her own foundation, and for charity concerts, maybe- maybe not, not sure, Whatever we have to do to make sure the people dem can better themselves in Jamaica and maybe even the world because we have connections all over the world where we have a good fanbase everywhere,” said Shenseea’s Manager Romeich Major to World Music Views.

“We aguh always help where we come from but we still aguh help others too.” Major added.

Shenseea uses her annual YengDay, May 20 which celebrates the anniversary of her ShengYeng Anthem every year to reach out to her fans in a charitable way.

In 2021, to show appreciation for her fans, she gave away cash, gifts, and support, including contributions to GoFundMe accounts, paying household bills, covering school tuitions, and promoting fan businesses on her social media. Five fans were also invited to dinner with her in LA. Fans were selected based on specific activities like sharing photos or concert clips.

Additionally, her team distributed roses to supporters and took photos with them by her image on a tour bus. Shenseea emphasized the deep connection she feels with her fans and credited their support for her success in the music industry.

During the pandemic, the “Trick Or Treat” also donated over 100 tablets to help Jamaican students who lacked electronic devices for online learning. She expressed her concern about the high number of students unable to access education during the lockdown, particularly as a single mother herself

“This is something that has been bothering me since the lockdown, especially since I’m a single mom; I can only imagine what some parents are going through so I’m giving away over 100 tablets to support your child that have difficulty gaining access to participate in online schooling,” Shenseea said.

Estimates from the Ministry of Education and the Jamaica Teachers Association at the time indicate that hundreds of thousands of students lacked the necessary devices to learn remotely.

Shenseea’s second album “Never Gets Late Here” is out now on all streaming platforms. Listen here.
