Music producer Calvin Harris’s single Obsessed from his Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2 album has made its debut on to the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 chart at No. 76. The song features Canadian singer Charlie Puth and Jamaican dancehall princess Shenseea. This is the latter’s first single on the chart.
The Interscope Records artist’s other collab with Fireboy DML ‘Diana,’ which also features Chris Brown, has snagged the No. 17 spot on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats chart. Again this is her first song on the US Afrobeat chart and only the second Jamaican to make that chart. Toni-Ann Singh by Burna Boy featuring dancehall artist Popcaan peaked at No. 12 in July.
Obsessed, also gave Shenseea her first U.K. top 100 single when it debuted at No. 71 last week Friday (August 18). The summer bop also debuted at #41 on the US Spotify chart with 448,279 streams. It’s Shenseea’s first song to reach the top 10.
Shenseea, 25, who dropped her debut album Alpha earlier this year is among a new set of artists from Jamaica with record deals who are doing international collabs while going on major headline tours.
Meanwhile Energy by Beyonce featuring BEAM spends a second week on the Canadian Hot 100 chart at No. 46. The song debuted last week on the US Hot 100 at No. 27 and has moved down to No. 79 this week after much controversy surrounded the track’s original interpolation of Kelis’s Milkshake.
