Shenseea’s ‘Never Gets Late Here’ is the most streamed dancehall album released in 2024. The album released via Rich Immigrants/ Interscope Records picked up 52 million streams since its May 24 release on Spotify. The top track on the album is ‘Hit & Run” featuring Masicka and Di Genius which has surpassed 27 million streams.
‘Never Gets Late Here’ is a hot contender for Best Reggae Album at the 2025 Grammy awards and Shenseea was nominated for Best Caribbean Act at the 2025 MOBO Awards. The “Pure Souls” singer is the most streamed Jamaican born female on Spotify with more than 980 million career streams.
Teejay’s debut EP, I Am Chippy, is the second highest streaming dancehall project released in 2024 with 34 million streams on Spotify. The Warner Records release has sold more than 15,000 album-equivalent units in the U.S. since its release on February 2, 2024, according to data provided to World Music Views by Billboard Sales Tracker Luminate.
The project, led by standout singles “Drift” and “Dip,” featuring Tommy Lee Sparta which has surpassed 27 million and 1.4 million streams respectively. A remix of Drift featuring Davido has surpassed 7 million streams on Spotify.
All versions of “Drift,” has sold 145,000 equivalent sales to date, including 5,000 in pure sales. This track peaked on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart at No. 47 on October 7, marking his first appearance on any Billboard chart.
“Dip,” has sold 2,000 equivalent sales in the U.S.
The EP features production from PXNDX (Anthony Shaw), Sadeque Bulgin, and Teejay himself, showcasing his multifaceted talent. Fans were treated to “Dip” ahead of the EP’s release, with the single dropping at midnight on January 26, 2024.
Rounding out the top 5 dancehall releases this year are Stefflon Don’s debut album, ‘Island 54’ (BMG) with 26 million streams at No. 3. That album peaked at No. 54 on the U.K. Official Albums Sales chart. Dexta Daps’ Trilogy (DDM) at No. 4 with 11 million and Spice’s Mirror 25 (Spice Official) is the 5th most streamed release with 1.9 million.
