Three years after its release, Skillibeng‘s “Crocodile Teeth” achieves Silver certification in the United Kingdom. The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) awarded it the Brit Certified Silver Award on September 15, 2023, for selling over 200,000 in streams and sales equivalent units in the UK, as measured by The Official Charts Company. It is the St. Thomas deejay’s first Britcertified song and the second Trap Dancehall song to reach the milestone after Byron Messia’s Talibans.
‘Crocodile Teeth’, released on September 21, 2020, is produced by Johnny Wonder and Andreas ‘Adde Instrumentals’ Nilsson and gained international attention, when Nicki Minaj did an official remix which peaked at No. 100 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart after its release on May 14, 2021.
The original track spent one week on the UK Singles chart at No. 74, following the release of the Minaj remix. Another official remix with Bobby Shmurda was included in Skillibeng’s 12-track “Crocodile Teeth” LP album, released on October 15, 2021.
The music video for the original track has garnered over 52 million views on YouTube, and on Spotify, it remains Skillibeng’s most-streamed song, accumulating over 26 million plays.
Johny Wonder told WMV that, “Skillibeng is a great artist that bridge the gap” between dancehall and Hip Hop. Rapper Bobby Shmurda and platinum selling British rapper, dancehall DJ Stefflon Don have used his slangs and punchlines for their own songs
The Crocodile Teeth album, which does not have the original Crocodile Teeth, only a remix with Bobby Shmurda and Stefflon Don has just over 4.6 million streams on Spotify. The album is also executive produced by Wonder and also features Lil Zach, and Rich The Kid.
