Tyla’s “Jump” featuring Gunna and Skillibeng his now certified Gold in Canada. The award was issued on July 2, 2024 by Music Canada for combined sales and streams exceeding 40,000 units. It is Skillibeng’s first Gold certification in any country.
The song became a trend on TikTok and other social media and was officially released as a single on May 14, 2024.
The latest milestone marks the second song from Tyla’s debut album, “TYLA,” to be certified in Canada after her breakout single “Water”was certified Double Platinum April 22, 2024 for selling 160,000 units.
“Jump” has surpassed 114 million streams on Spotify, Skillibeng’s first song to reach 100 million streams on any platform, while it is Gunna’s 36th and Tyla’s second.
The music video for the “Jump” has surpassed 15 million views on YouTube since its May 20 release.
The three artists performed the song at the 2024 BET Awards in a afro-jungle style set featuring dancers in cages formed as tigers, Tyla’s name former fans and an oversized elephant. Skillibeng delivered two verses surrounded by dancers.
World Music Views first reported that Skillibeng would be featured on Grammy-winning singer Tyla’s self-titled debut album on March 22. The track was recorded during Tyla’s visit to Geejam Studios in Jamaica, where she worked on six songs in Portland last year. Her manager, Colin Gayle, told WMV that he wanted Tyla to experience his homeland’s environment for inspiration.
