Jamaican dancehall star Skillibeng earns a second Silver certification in the U.K., thanks to his feature on Tyla’s hit single “Jump,” which also features Atlanta rapper Gunna. The certification, awarded by British Phonographic Industry on December 6, 2024, recognizes combined sales and streams exceeding 200,000 units in the country.
“Jump,” officially released as a single on May 14, 2024, quickly became a viral sensation on TikTok and other social media platforms, propelling it to commercial success. The song also marks Tyla second BritCertified Silver single from her debut album, TYLA. Her breakout hit, “Water,” was certified Platinum on March 29, 2024, for surpassing 600,000 units in sales and streams.
Streaming Success and Music Video Milestone
The track has garnered over 192 million streams on Spotify, making it Skillibeng’s first song to surpass 100 million streams on any platform. Meanwhile, it is Gunna’s 36th song to achieve this feat and Tyla’s second.
Tyla has been performing the track solo at her concerts around the world getting a favorable responses in cities like Cape Town where the audience sang word for word.
The track was recorded during Tyla’s creative retreat at Geejam Studios in Portland, Jamaica, where she worked on six songs for her album. Speaking with World Music Views, her manager Colin Gayle explained that he wanted Tyla to experience the unique inspiration of his homeland. The collaboration with Skillibeng, announced by WMV on March 22, marked one of the highlights of her studio sessions in Jamaica.
