Skillibeng Whaps Lyrics On DJ Khaled’s ‘These Streets Know My Name’, Capleton, Buju Banton, Sizzla, Bounty Killer Deliver On ‘God Did’

On DJ Khaled’s last album Khaled Khaled, the track Where You Come From featuring Buju Banton, Barrington Levy, Capleton, and Bounty Killer had immense popularity among the dancehall audiences. These Streets Know My Name, is the follow up and it is one the standouts on God Did released by by We The Best / Epic Records.

Newcomer Skillibeng shines with some hardcore lyrics dismissing the narrative that he is a popcorn artist with nursery rhymes.

Buju Banton croons on the hook “These streets knows my naaame”, and Bounty Killer is back in form with the aggressive and poignant delivery from his My Experience Days.

Capleton is his usual up tempo firebrand which gives the track some additional 90s flavour and Sizzla is added for some more Rastafari razzle dazzle.

Matching all 5 talented artists one one track on paper is overwhelming, and may have seem like a stretch on Khaled’s part, but the Miami DJ has pretty much established his connection and commitment to include at least one dancehall track on each of his albums.

The beat is a mixture of haunting hip hop and dancehall with some parts reminiscent of production on Top Shotter with DMX, Mr. Vegas and Sean Paul from the Belly Movie Soundtrack produced by Tony Kelly, a signature dancehall kick-up sound from the 90s.

The song is produced by DJ Khaled, Nicholas Warwar, professionally known as STREETRUNNER, the American, Grammy Award winning, multi-platinum record producer from Miami, Florida & Tarik Azzouz (Jay-Z, Fabolous). All three produce multiple tracks on the album.

Already social media is marking These Streets Know My Name as a standout on Khaled’s 13th studio album which is predicted to debut is the top ten on the Billboard 200 chart next week. One person has called for the visuals “asap” and memes are already being created on social media as ‘DJ Khaled’ trends at No. 4 and “God Did” trends at No. 1 on twitter.

Check out a couple tweets below highlighting the song.

As for what it will do for the genres of reggae and dancehall, the streets will determine.
