American reggae fusion band Slightly Stoopid scored their first No. 1 on the YouTube Jamaica chart for the week ending August 7, 2025, with their single The Upside Down, featuring B-Real of Cypress Hill and Chali 2na of Jurassic 5. It is also B-Real and Chali 2na first No. 1 on the musical island.

The California-based group — consisting of Miles Doughty, Kyle McDonald, Ryan Moran, Daniel “DeLa” Delacruz, Paul Wolstencroft, and Andy Geib — released the track on July 17, 2025. The official visualizer promoted mostly in Jamaica over the past week, earned 700,000 views globally, 400,000 of which came from the island.

The song features Doughty (vocals, guitar, bass), McDonald (vocals, guitar, bass), B-Real (vocals), Chali 2na (vocals), Moran (drums), Delacruz (saxophone), Wolstencroft (keyboards), Geib (trombone), Rashawn Ross (trumpet), and Tye Zamora (bass). It was recorded, produced, and mixed by George Spits, James Wisner, and Slightly Stoopid, mastered by Melissa Harris Chambers, with artwork by Dan Mumford.

Blending reggae and West Coast hip-hop, The Upside Down was recorded at Sonic Ranch in Texas and is the first single from the band’s forthcoming tenth studio album, expected in 2026. Formed in Ocean Beach, California, in the mid-1990s, Slightly Stoopid’s catalog incorporates reggae, ska, rock, funk, and hip-hop, alongside a strong live performance tradition.

“The song has an underlying theme of more love in this world… The magnitude of music bringing us all together is real,” the band told High Times in a recent interview.
