On iTunes the album peaked at No. 14 in all genres in the United States, No. 50 in Canada, No. 80 in the Bahamas and No. 94 in the U.K. The album also peaked at No. 1 on the Reggae iTunes album in the U.S.
About her new found freedom, Spice told Altpress.com that, “I was under VP Records for over 10 years, and there was a battle for me to get out. I’m finally emancipated..my fans have been journeying with me for over a decade. This is not just a project but something that is me — authentic dancehall music.”
Emancipated is projected to debut in the top ten on Billboard’s Reggae Albums Chart tomorrow, but it has since fallen off the Reggae iTunes chart. Her debut album 10 released by VP records sits at no. 24.
The Romping Shop artist released the uncut promo for the second single from the album “Tape Measure” which features a nude black man and a white male model.
The objectifying teaser which shows spice using a tape measure to calculate the length of his penis elicited several memes including from Miami based body surgeon Dr. Miami who tweeted, “When Spice drops a new video and your office phone starts ringing non-stop.”
