This is Spice’s 5th project to debut on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart
Spice’s latest album, Mirror 25, debuts at No. 7 on this week’s Billboard Reggae Albums chart, dated August 24, 2024. This marks her third studio album to chart, matching the position of her previous album Emancipated, which also peaked at No. 7 in September 2, 2022.
First week sales for Mirror 25 are similar to her two previous albums Emancipated, which sold 1500 units during its first week and her debut album 10 had sold 1447 units according to data provided to World Music Views by Billboard sales tracker Luminate.
10 is the most streamed dancehall album by a female Jamaican- born artist of all time surpassing 300 million streams on Spotify. The Grammy nominated album lead by the single “Go Down Deh” with Shaggy and Sean Paul has sold 125,000 equivalent units in the US, including 21,000 in pure sales, according to data provided to WMV by Luminate.
The “Romping Shop” deejay now has five projects that have appeared on the Billboard Reggae chart, matching the record for the most top 10 entries by a female dancehall artist. Lady Saw also has 5 top ten entries (4 under the name Lady Saw and one gospel album, credited Marion Hall) with six charted releases overall. The deejay’s highest-charting project, the Captured EP, spent one week at No. 1 and a total of three weeks on the chart. Her debut album, 10, peaked at No. 6 on August 21, 2021, while her So Mi Like It EP reached No. 14 in December 2014.
Mirror 25 is released on Spice Official Entertainment. The independent project was lead by the singles “2085 Tea,” “Round Round” featuring Busta Rhymes, “Gangster” featuring Chronic Law produced by Ireland Boss and “Ex Boyfriend”. It is the second highest charting dancehall album by a female this year following Shenseea’s “Never Gets Late Here” debut at No. 4.
Leading the Billboard Reggae Chart are three compilations albums – Legend the Best Of Bob Marley and The Wailers at the top for 240 non-consecutive weeks, Dutty Classics by SEAN PAUL at No. 2, Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection at No. 3.
Further down on the chart Stick Figure’s World On Fire, Set In Stone and Wisdom at No. 4, 5 and 6 respectively.
UB40’s UB45 and Greatest Hits at No. 8 and 10 respectively. While Courage To Grow by Rebelution moves up to No. 9.
