Stalk Ashley: Stalky The Bratt Album Review

Stalk Ashley
Stalk Ashley

Stalk Ashley’s debut album, Stalky The Bratt, signifies her commitment to dancehall with 11 tracks that showcase her genre-blending talent while staying true to her roots. The production team, including Jaxx, Anju Blaxx, and Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor, enhances her distinctive sound.

Opening with the reflective “Humble,” the independent album takes listeners on a journey through fresh cuts like the hip-hop-infused “Brixx” and the standout collaboration “Really Like You” with Skillibeng. Commendations for her versatility on “Sneaky Link,” a track about complicated love, and “Stay with Me” featuring Sean Paul, which has international appeal. The album is age appropriate for an internet age artist in her mid 20s. “Deserve It,” produced by Di Genius, blending old-school vibes with modern flair.

Even with the usual who is who of dancehall collaborators;  they don’t detract from Ashley’s position as the up next female MC from Jamaica. “Rockstar” with Armanii, an electric guitar-driven track, and “Senseless” with Skeng and Kraff channels the energy of her previous YouTube hit, “Tahliban.”

She gave the project what she has to offer now but Stalk Ashley’s rebellious confidence is one to watch.
