Stefflon Don has earned her sixth U.K. Silver certification with “Selecta,” her collaboration with Chase & Status. According to the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), “Selecta” released November 9, 2023 surpasses 200,000 sales and streaming units as of November 1, 2024.
This EDM-dancehall track released on November 9, 2023, as a single from Chase & Status album 2 Ruff, Vol 1 samples the riff on Ashanti’s “Only You” (2004) reached No. 27 on the U.K. Official Singles Chart and remained there for eight weeks. With this latest certification, Stefflon Don becomes the only female artist of Jamaican descent to achieve six Silver-certified singles in the U.K.
The milestone comes just one day before Stefflon Don, known for her hit “Hurting Me,” faces off against a lineup of male artists at the Red Bull Culture Clash, set to take place at the National Arena in Kingston, Jamaica.
Legendary dancehall producer Dave Kelly, known for his iconic ’90s dancehall productions like the Showtime and Bug riddims, will present the “Madhouse Experience” crew, lead by Baby Cham, Fame FM DJ Captain Collin Hinds, CopperShaun, Game Changaz Stainy, and Brandon. Kelly and his Madhouse Records label have been influential in Jamaican music, working with major acts like Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, and Shaggy.
Red Bull Culture Clash returns to Kingston after five years, celebrating Jamaica’s vibrant sound system culture with four crews competing across four rounds. The lineup includes Big Bad Soca, led by Trinidadian soca star Voice the Artiste; Jamaica Wi Seh, led by DJ Frass and featuring viral personalities; and Lon Don Crew from the U.K., fronted by British-Jamaican rapper Stefflon Don with DJ Mac and other dancehall artists, showcasing the U.K.’s connection to dancehall.
The audience will determine the winner by popular vote, making it a night of high-energy competition, exclusive tracks, and unexpected collaborations. The event follows past Culture Clash highlights, such as the on-stage rivalry between Shenseea and Jada Kingdom in 2019.
