Bob Marley, the legendary reggae icon, has surpassed 10 million streams on Spotify and his music continues to make waves in the music world decades after his passing. His music, characterized by profound lyrics and a distinctive reggae rhythm, has transcended time and generations. The enduring appeal of his songs is evident in the impressive streaming numbers they have achieved on Spotify. “Stir It Up” was first released in 1962 and is one of Marley’s most beloved songs, celebrated for its soothing melody and romantic lyrics. It remains a favorite among fans, capturing the essence of Marley’s gentler side. Johny Nah later released a cover for his 1972 album “I Can See Clearly Now.”

2. Satisfy My Soul – 177 million

“Satisfy My Soul” original titled Don’t Rock My Boat in 1970 is another timeless track from the album Kaya released in 1978.  The song had peaked at No. 21 on the UK Chart and showcases Marley’s exceptional songwriting and vocal prowess. The song’s message of love and contentment resonates deeply, making it a staple in reggae playlists worldwide.

3. Get Up, Stand Up – 168 million

This powerful anthem, co-written with Peter Tosh, is a rallying cry for justice and equality. “Get Up, Stand Up” released on the Wailers sixth studio album Burnin’ has inspired countless listeners to stand up for their rights, cementing its place as one of Marley’s most impactful songs.

It was th subject of the Bob Marley: One Love movie released February 14.

9. One Drop – 104 million

“One Drop” is from the band’s eleventh studio album “Survival” (1979). In the song Marley asserts his region singing “give us the teachings of his majesty/.we nuh want nuh devil philosophy,.” The song’s rhythm and message continue to resonate with listeners around the globe.

10. Is This Love (Montmartre Remix) – 104 million

Another remix of the classic “Is This Love,” this version brings a fresh, modern twist to the timeless love song. Its popularity underscores the song’s universal appeal and adaptability.

11. Turn Your Lights Down Low featuring Lauryn Hill – 104 million

A tender love ballad, “Turn Your Lights Down Low” featuring Lauryn Hill is from the posthumous collection of remixes “Chant Down Babylon” (1999). showcases Marley’s softer side. The song’s original version was from the album Exodus. The duet version charts at No. 15 on the UK Singles chart as well as the US Rhymic Billboard chart.

12. Sun Is Shining – 102 million

“Sun Is Shining” is an uplifting track that exudes positivity and hope fort appearing on the Lee Scratch Perry’s 1971 album Soul Revolution Part II by Bob Marley and The Wailers. Marley later re-recored the song for the Kaya album and it charted at No. 3 on the UK Singles chart.

13. Roots, Rock, Reggae – 100 million

This track is the most recent Marley song to reach the 100 million milestone on Spotify from the album Rastaman Vibration, his seventh studio album released via Island Records. The song is credited to Bob Marley’s friend Vincent Ford aka Tata

Ford passed away on December 28, 2008 in Kingston, Jamaica, at the age of 68 and along with Roots, Rock Reggae he received royalties for several of Marley’s classic songs, including “No Woman, No Cry,” “Positive Vibration,” and “Crazy Baldheads.” This arrangement led to significant controversy and a prolonged court battle between Marley’s former manager, Danny Sims, and his widow, Rita Marley. Sims alleged that Marley credited Ford to avoid contractual obligations. However, in 1987, a jury ruled in favor of the Marley estate, allowing them to retain control over the disputed songs.
