Stockholm Reggae Nights is a reggae club in Stockholm founded by reggae artist Angelica Mava. Held at Debaser Strand, the club offers a dedicated space for reggae enthusiasts to enjoy a mix of classic and contemporary sounds. With a reggae-themed drink menu and lighting in red, gold, and green, the atmosphere reflects the culture and spirit of the music.
At the heart of the experience is the powerful vinyl sound system, Mighty Two Crew, delivering roots, dub, and steppas alongside Svensk Reggae Sound, which brings a contemporary twist with digital selections. This combination ensures that both reggae purists and modern enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the full spectrum of reggae music.
Mava, 26, is steady making her mark in the music industry by balancing artistic independence with a growing global audience.
She opened the club as a space to showcase her music following the released of her 2021 debut album Anonym, followed by two more reggae albums—one in Swedish and one in English. Her love for reggae was shaped by her family’s admiration for Bob Marley and her own digital discovery of the genre. Damian Marley’s Welcome to Jamrock played a key role in deepening her connection to reggae.
Despite reggae’s niche status in Sweden, Mava has gained international recognition, collaborating with artists like Stephen Marley and Anthony B.
With reggae ranked as the 10th most-listened-to genre globally, Mava believes in its enduring appeal.
The response to Stockholm Reggae Nights has been nothing short of electric. Reflecting on the club’s premiere on January 31, Angelica recalls being overwhelmed by the turnout. “At 10 pm the bar manager asked me if I was ready for her to open the doors, and I said yes, thinking people wouldn’t show up until late. So I went to change outfit, and when I came out there were a lot of people already inside. After 30 minutes, it was crowded. I think this is a great receipt of how dedicated reggae music lovers are.”
Since its debut, the club has become a cornerstone of Sweden’s reggae community. The latest event, held on March 14, solidified its growing reputation. “The vibes in the club are incredible. This has truly become my favorite club in Sweden. I barely have time to talk to my friends and family because people constantly come up to me and tell me how much they’re enjoying this club, thanking me and all these things. It’s actually crazy.”
