Stonebwoy’s Def Jam Debut “5th Dimension” Opens At No. 8 On The US Billboard Reggae Chart

The first week’s sales and streaming numbers for Stonebwoy‘s Def Jam debut “5th Dimension” were enough to place the album at No. 8 on the US Billboard Reggae chart. “5th Dimension” sold 950 units in its first week(Since April 28, 2023). This includes 100 pure album copies and 1.4 million on-demand streams in the U.S. according to data provided to WMV by Billboard sales trackers Luminate.

So far the album has earned 7,000 album equivalent units in the U.S. over its lifetime. This includes 10.4 million lifetime streams driven by the release of the track Therapy last year when Def Jam announced their signing of the Ghanaian artist.

The world music project which features afro-fusion as well as reggae-dancehall song was the only new entry on the chart this week.  on collaborations Dexta Daps, Shaggy and Davido are just some of the names featured on Ghanaian dancehall singer StoneBwoy’s upcoming studio album 5th Dimension. The 17 track project represents StoneBwoy’s first for Def Jam Africa after he signed a multi-album deal last year.

Other guests on Stoneybwoy’s 5th studio album include U.K. Drill rapper Stormzy, Nigerian singers Davido and Oxlade, Tiwa Savage, Mereba, Jaz Karis, Maphorisa and world music singer and activist Angélique Kidjo who just won The Polar Music Prizes 2023.

Back to the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart, Legend The Best Of Bob Marley & The Wailers extends its record at No. 1 for 173 weeks, the album was originally released in 1984 has spent 174 weeks on the chart and was only dethroned for one week by Stick Figure’s Wisdom last September. Wisdom moves up one spot to No. 5 this week. While World on Fire and Set In Stone by Stick Figure is at No. 6 and 7.

Best Of Shaggy: Boobastic Collection at No. 2 and Sean Paul’s Dutty Classics remains at No. 3. UB40’s Greatest Hits at No. 4, Backyard Sessions: Malibu Edition by Iration at No. 9 and Welcome To Jamrock by Damian Marley re-enters the chart at No. 10 for a total of 121 weeks.
