Super Producer Scott Storch Says Annaleax Reminds Him Of Grace Jones and Rihanna

Hip-hop producer Scott Storch, known for his prolific work on Dr. Dre’s Chronic 2001 album and 50 Cent’s Candy Shop, has expressed his enthusiasm for his latest collaboration with emerging artist AnnaleaX. Storch, who has previously collaborated with iconic Jamaican artists such as Beenie Man, Jah Cure, and CeCile, describes his work with AnnaleaX as a continuation and expansion of his Jamaican musical journey.

“Having worked with Beenie Man, Jah Cure, and CeCile before, it was a pleasure to expand and prolong my Jamaican musical experience by working with the new and exciting AnnaleaX. We are merging different genres as we fuse Reggae, R&B, Rap, Afrobeat, and Pop in her compositions,” Storch told World Music Views.

Storch produced three songs on Jamaican singer AnnaleaX’s debut album, “Alter Ego Vol 1“: “Body On Fire,” “Rainy Days” featuring Urban Mystic, and “Hell No,” which transcend traditional genre boundaries.

AnnaleaX’s music, branded as an eclectic mix of genres, she says, it is designed to appeal to a wide audience. Storch also draws a parallel between AnnaleaX and other legendary artists who have successfully integrated their musical talents with their modeling careers. “Working with AnnaleaX generates a similarity of working with an artist like Rihanna or Grace Jones who combines their modeling image with their musical talent to attract and capture their audiences,” he explained. This comparison highlights AnnaleaX’s multifaceted appeal, combining striking visual presence with compelling musical prowess to create a captivating artistic persona.

AnnaleaX’s “Alter Ego Vol 1” is released by SoBe Entertainment. She says the songs were recorded over three years ago, but due to the pandemic, the album was put on hold.

Scott Storch began his professional music career in 1991 as one of the founding members of the hip hop group The Roots, where he played keyboard. He played a significant role in the group’s first two albums, Organix and Do You Want More?!!!??!, and also contributed to Illadelph Halflife. However, Storch preferred the creative environment of the studio over the rigors of touring, which led him to pursue a career as a music producer.

Storch’s first major commercial successes came with his production on “You Got Me” by The Roots featuring Erykah Badu and Eve, and his collaboration with Dr. Dre on “Still D.R.E.”. He went on to produce the 2004 hit single “Lean Back” by Terror Squad and worked on chart-topping tracks for a wide array of artists including 50 Cent, The Game, T.I., Chris Brown, Christina Aguilera, Beyoncé, Nas, Snoop Dogg, Pink, and Lil’ Kim. In recognition of his contributions to the music industry, Storch was awarded ASCAP’s Songwriter of the Year award in 2006.

Storch produces hip hop music through his label, Storch Music Company, and also operated his own production company, Tuff Jew Productions LLC, which is published by Reservoir Media Management.
