Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ Breaks All-Time U.S. Record for Biggest First-Week Album Sales, Surpassing Adele’s ‘25’

Taylor Swift, Adele

Taylor Swift’s new album The Life of a Showgirl (Republic) has officially broken Adele’s 10-year record, surpassing the 3.5 million first-week total set by 25 back in 2015 — and the week isn’t even over yet according to Hits.

World Music Views previously reported that The Life of a Showgirl now stands as the biggest debut in U.S. chart history with 4 million in sales and streaming equivalents.

Behind this record-shattering feat is a masterclass in music marketing and fan engagement. Swift’s campaign has generated an unprecedented 2.7 million pure sales across vinyl, CDs, cassettes, and digital downloads in just 24 hours. On streaming platforms, the dominance is equally unmatched — the album’s 12 tracks have occupied Spotify’s global top slots, amassing more than 250 million streams on day one.

The Life Of A Showgirl sold 3 million units in 42 hours while Adele’s 25 did so in 6 days. The album is No. 1 on 112 countries on Apple Music.

From the album “The Fate of Ophelia” by Taylor Swift earns the most adds at US pop radio in a single week since Adele’s “Easy On Me” in 2021. Swift is also predicted to occupy the top 5 slots on the Billboard Hot 100 next week with “The Fate of Ophelia” set to debut at No. 1. Swift will tie with Michael Jackson for the artist with the tenth-most cumulative weeks at No. 1 (37 weeks).
