Warner Recording artist Teejay drops the second single from his debut EP “I am Chippy” at midnight on Friday January 26, 2024 ahead of the project’s February 2 release. The song titled “Dip” features Tommy Lee Sparta with production handled by PXNDX (Anthony Shaw), who also produced “Drift,” along with Sadeque Bulgin and Teejay, real name Timoy Jones.
“Drift,” which is the first single from the EP entered the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Airplay chart the week of October 7 at No. 47 after its release on June 30 last year. It was his first appearance on any Billboard chart and the success of the song on the streaming charts resulted in the publishing and Recording contract with Warner Music Group for Teejay.
Since then the breakout turntable hit has charted in 26 countries across different platforms in the Caribbean and Africa landing at #82 in Nigeria after a remix and music video with Davido was released.
On Apple Music, “Drift” is currently #22 in Turks and Caicos, #39 in Seychelles, #49 in Sierra Leone, #49 Sierra Leone, #52 Grenada, #56 Bermuda, #56 Nigeria, #61 Seychelles, #74 Barbados, #86 Anguilla, #87 Guyana, #88 British Virgin Islands, #88 Gambia and #95 in St. Lucia.
While on the YouTube chart it’s placed at #81 in Nigeria. “I Am Chippy” is executive produced by Grammy winning dancehall superstar Shaggy, Teejay, Sharon Burke and Steve “Steve-O” Carless. Along with Tommy Lee Sparta, the ten track project also features Davido on the Drift Remix, Jaydon and Quada, Skillibeng, Bayka and Malie Donn whose “V6” was the most streamed dancehall song on Jamaica on YouTube and Spotify for 2023.
