Tom MacDonald’s latest rap song based on the attempted assassination of Donald Trump titled “You Missed” has climbed to No. 1 on the U.S iTunes chart.

“Thank God the left can’t aim, thank God the right don’t riot” he rhymes putting into words a flurry of emotions summarizing the political temperature of America.

MacDonald announced the released of the song on social media on Sunday July 14, a day after the incident saying, “I just dropped another new music video called “You Missed.” After the disgusting actions that took place yesterday…it had to be done.”

The Canadian rapper also celebrated the fact that the song replaces Eminem and Jelly Roll’s “Somebody Save Me” at the top spot on iTunes.

Since 2012, the political indie artist has released 12 studios albums but first landed on a chart with “The Brave,” a collaboration with Adam Calhoun, released on February 18, 2022. This self-released projected peaked at number 14 on the US Billboard 200 charts and number 83 in Canada. “The Brave 2,” with Adam Calhoun, was released on September 8, 2023, reached number 62 on the Billboard 200.

His other releases include “All Growed Up” (December 15, 2012), “See You Tomorrow” (December 21, 2015), “Deathreats” (August 1, 2018), and “Ghostories” (August 30, 2019), all self-released in CD or digital formats. Additionally, there was “Killing the Neighbors” (February 15, 2020) with Madchild, “Gravestones” (August 14, 2020), “As Far as the Stars” (April 9, 2021) with Nova Rockafeller and Brandon Hart, “Us Against the World” (September 3, 2021), “Renegade” (November 18, 2022), and “The Revolution” (November 18, 2022). None of these albums charted but were all self-released, primarily in CD format.

In January he drew the attention of Nicki Minaj with his collaboration with political commentator Ben Shapiro when she tweeted“Ben Shapiro put out a diss record. He said his comment sections are filled with woke Karens. The song is #1 on US iTunes.  what is rlly happening & whos is that other man rapping???? Is this real life??!! He said “Nicki take some notes” nah  AYO nah”

MacDonald responded saying, “Hi Nicki  I’m the other man rapping.”
