Top 25 Most-Viewed Reggaetón Music Videos On YouTube

Reggaetón music released in the last decade has exploded in popularity worldwide. Mainstream American music industry started paying attention to the genre after Daddy Yankee’s “Gasolina” from his Barrio Fino (Nice ‘Hood) album took over the US airwaves in 2004, with several regions laying claim to its place of origin.

With its roots running deep in Jamaican, Panamanian, and Puerto Rican culture, in 2023, Latin America, the birthplace of reggaetón, saw a remarkable 19.4% increase in music revenues, outpacing global growth and leading every other region, according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). This marks the 14th straight year of revenue growth for the region, with a 25% jump in 2022.

To understand reggaetón’s unique sound, you can trace a line from Jamaica’s Dancehall to Panamanian Reggae en Español, and the influential Dem Bow beat developed in New York and Puerto Rico. This mix of technology, migration, and cultural exchange has pushed reggaetón from underground mixtapes to global pop stardom.

Bad Bunny’s groundbreaking performance at the 2023 Grammys also boosted the genre’s popularity. From the foundational beats of El General in the 1980s and the legendary samples of Steely and Clevie’s “Fish Market” Riddim, (which is currently being litigated in court,) to the modern resurgence with stars like Karol G and J Balvin, reggaetón continues to evolve and captivate audiences.

Some of the biggest releases in Reggaetón happened between 2017 to 2019 and in this list of top 25 most viewed reggaetón videos on YouTube, several artists have more than one song featured. Bad Bunny stands out with multiple hits including “MÍA” with Drake (2018), “Mayores” with Becky G (2017), “Te Boté (Remix)” with Casper, Nio García, Darell, Nicky Jam, and Ozuna (2017), and “No Me Conoce (Remix)” with Jhay Cortez and J.
