Tosh Alexander Calls Out Jamaican Government in Emotional Plea As U.S. and U.K Issue Advisory Over Public Safety Concerns

Tosh Alexander, the Jamaican singer known for her feature on Busta Rhymes and Nicki Minaj’s hit “Twerk It,” is blasting the Andrew Holness lead government’s handling of public safety.

Tagging the Jamaican Prime Minister directly in a video Instagram, Alexander openly condemned the lack of attention to critical issues like street safety and expressed angrily that there is is deep level of exhaustion that many Jamaicans feel when it comes to dealing with harassment and threats in public spaces.

Her post, which featured the Jamaican flag prominently, began with a stark declaration: “Dear Jamaican Government, at this point I DO NOT CARE how this looks. I am putting this on WORLD display.”

Alexander posted a man seemingly of unsound mind touching himself while looking at her in the streets of Kingston during morning traffic. Alexander’s frustration stems from repeated personal encounters with the man she identified as a street harasser.

She questioned the trustworthiness of the government’s initiatives, writing, “You should inquire why your citizens don’t believe in anything you put forth. Maybe because not even the BASIC things you get right.”

Singer Gramps Morgan commented, “Oh no so sorry you had to experience this please Government fix this that man needs Help.”

In April Tosh who grew up in both Jamaica and the U.S. ,made a similar cry on social media as reported by Irie FM.

The individual aggressively approached her car, banging on the window she says, “Every day we feel more and more UNSAFE in our country,” she wrote.

Both the U.K. and U.S. has issued travel advisory for their citizens in Jamaica. With the U.K. government stating, “There have been incidents where tourists and visitors have been targets for rape and sexual assault.” They advise travelers to “Take care when using dating apps in Jamaica, especially those used by the LGBT+ community. Criminals have used apps to lure victims to meet in a public place but later assault and rob them.”

Crime rates are high in and around Kingston and Montego Bay. Gang violence and shootings are common in inner city areas. Caution is advised when traveling to or within: West Kingston, Grants Pen, August Town, Harbour View, Spanish Town. Parts of Montego Bay, including Flankers, Barrett Town, Norwood, Glendevon, Rose Heights and Mount Salem.

Alexander pointed out that the individual who harassed her was a repeat offender, often moving from one stoplight to another, continuing to threaten unsuspecting drivers. She passionately demanded that the government take immediate action, asking, “When do you plan to take these RAPISTS off our streets?”

The post ended on a powerful and raw note, with Alexander expressing her complete frustration: “I’M FUCKIN EXHAUSTED!!!!!!!!!!!” She called on Prime Minister Holness directly, urging him to address the issue with urgency, using strong language and multiple exclamation marks to emphasize her plea: “@andrewholnessjm FIX THIS‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️”

In addition to music, Tosh launched a clothing line called “Black Nuh B*mbocl**t” during the pandemic.
