Grammy nominated stand-up comedian Trevor Noah released his latest Netflix comedy special after embarking on a year-long tour across the United States titled “Trevor Noah: Where Was I,” on December 19.
In the one hour special recorded at the Fox Theatre in Detroit Noah joked about how Olympic swim champions collected a different medal for doing “slightly less efficient versions” of swimming contests.
“Swimming is the only discipline where you win more medals for doing the same thing in a slightly less efficient manner, it makes no sense” he said, then proceeded to demonstrated how the breaststroke and backstroke are versions of the same thing.
He then compared it to 100m world record holder Usain Bolt winning a race by saying, “Usain Bolt doesn’t have that luxury, when Usain Bolt runs its the hundred meters and its done. He doesn’t get to turn around and say that was an amazing race and now I am going to do it butterfly style. Thats not a thing. I mean it should be, but it’s not,” he analyzed jokingly.
This marks Noah’s fourth Netflix comedy special, a record-setting achievement for any South African comedian. Noah offers a unique perspective into the complexities of foreign national anthems, the cultural norms among other personal experiences.
