Tyla’s ‘Water’ Makes a Splash, Rises to the Top of U.S. Billboard Afrobeats Songs Chart

“Water” by Tyla climbs to No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Afrobeats Songs chart for the first time. It marks the South African singer’s first U.S. No. 1 and Water becomes the first new No. 1 hit of the year. Previously Calm Down by Rema and Selena Gomez spent 53 weeks at the top of the chart.

Tyla’s breakout song is becoming a global hit making the charts all over the world on Apple Music, Shazam,  Spotify and iTunes in several countries.

The song reaches a new peak on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 at No. 63 and on Canadian Hot 100 “Water” drops to No. 64 after peaking at No. 53.

In Japan “Water” entered the Spotify Viral50 at No. 10. and it entered the top 40 at US Rhythmic radio, her first song to do so according to Mediabase.

The music video for Water is also gaining momentum and its the 74th most viewed video of YouTube in the last 24 hours with 803,356. Within 12 days of its release it has earned 10 million views worldwide on the platform.
Her previous song, “Been Thinking” reached No. 27 on Billboard Rhythmic Airplay chart and No. 36 on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay earlier this year.
Tyla will be featured on one of the remixes to Summer Walker’s “Girls Need Love” with Victoria Monét, Tink, this Friday for the 5 year anniversary of her project “Last Day of Summer.”
