UK Music Certification: Chase & Status’ “Baddadan” (Featuring Bou and Flowdan) Certified Gold

Chase & Status, alongside Bou’s, dancehall-infused track “Baddadan,” featuring IRAH, Flowdan, Trigga, and Takura, released on July 27, has now been certified Gold in the U.K., exactly two months after earning Silver certification on October 13, 2023, for selling 400,000 units in streams and sales. The latest certification, issued on December 15, 2023, by the British Phonographic Industry, was measured by the Official Charts Company.

The EDM/Dancehall-infused track release by EMI/Universal was written by IRAH and entered the UK’s Official Singles Chart on August 10, quickly climbing ten places from No. 31 to No. 21.

A statement from IRAH’s team to WMV revealed, “Mr. IRAH Chase penned ‘Baddadan’ and orchestrated the collaborative effort with Chase and Status and Bou. He extended invitations to TRIGGA, FLOWDAN, and TAKURA,” the statement added.

“Baddadan” translates to “Rougher Than” or literally “Badder Than” in Jamaican street patois, delivering a menacing message through hardcore lyrics set against a characteristic bass-heavy EDM beat.

Chase & Status’ venture into dancehall began with their 2019 albums RTRN: The Originals, RTRN II Jungle, and in 2022, the release of What Came Before.

RTRN II Jungle being recorded in Jamaica, featured collaborations with icons like Buju Banton and emerging dancehall star Masicka.

The Billy Seeberg directed music video for the song has surpassed 13 million views o YouTube.
