Dancehall process Shenseea and South African Amapiano DJ Uncle Waffles are set to represent their respective cultures in California at their Coachella performance debuts.
The official line up for Coachella 2023 was announced in January and 26 year old Shenseea will be the only Jamaican artist on the lineup this year performing over two weekends: Saturdays April 15 & 22. On the even of her Coachella debut Shenseea will drop a single titled “Curious.”
The Jiggle Boss tweeted last week that she will be doing it big for her culture.

While Uncle Waffles real name Lungelihle Zwane known for her high energy gun finger pointing and dancing will be making her Amapiano Jock debut on April 14 and 21. She will then embark on a multi-city Second Time’s A Charm U.S. tour in Atlanta, Chicago, Miami and Philadelphia.
Other African DJs to have graced the Coachella stage in the past include Black Coffee(x4), Major League DJz and DBN Gogo. Jamaican acts to have performed on Coachella in the past include Koffee, Sean Paul, Coachella, Protoje.
Last year Coachella saw debut performance from Brazilian singer Annita who performed with veteran rapper Snoop Dogg. After taking the stage the former Warner Music artists got the crowd hype with a video montage of the streets of Brazil with the Sergio Mendes‘ “Mas Que Nada” playing in the background. Then, she and her 20 strong troupe of dancers, made a grand entrance with Snoop introducing ‘the girl from Rio.’
Organizers of the California festival also announced that this year’s selection of acts emphasize global diversity. Concert goers will be treated to an emmersive experience with other performances from superstars Bunny from Puerto Rico, K–pop group Blackpink from South Korea as well as many other international heavyweights like Bjork (Iceland), Rosalia (Spain) Burna Boy (Nigeria) and Jai Paul( British Indian). Hip Hop will be represented with genre influences are highlighted through Metro Boomin‘, Push T., Kid Laroi and more.
