21 years after its release, Usher and Alicia Keys’ Grammy-winning duet “My Boo” has officially joined the billion-streams club on Spotify.
The song released august 29, 2004 via LaFace Records, now marks Usher’s third track to cross the billion mark on the platform, following his club anthem “Yeah!” with Lil Jon and Ludacris, and Alicia Keys’ fourth, alongside “If I Ain’t Got You,” “Empire State of Mind” with Jay-Z, and “No One.”
Originally appearing on the special edition of Usher’s landmark album Confessions (2004), “My Boo” was written by Usher, Keys, Jermaine Dupri, Adonis Shropshire, and Manuel Seal, with production from Dupri and an uncredited No I.D. The duet struck an immediate chord with listeners, spending six consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and winning Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 2005 Grammy Awards.
The single became the third major hit from Confessions after “Yeah!” and “Burn,” helping the album to become one of the best-selling R&B records of the 21st century.
Beyond its initial success, “My Boo” has remained a staple of R&B playlists and radio rotations, often cited as one of the decade’s defining collaborations. Its music video, co-directed by Usher and Chris Robinson and shot in New York City, has also found renewed popularity online, amassing almost 200 million views on YouTube as of 2025.
