Veteran reggae producer Clive Hunt and reggae artist Lutan Fyah have teamed up to release the poignant new single “My Heart Cries,” via Ineffable Records. The song, driven by Lutan Fyah’s powerful lyrics and Hunt’s signature production lead by French horns and Nyahbinghi drums, offers a deep reflection on the struggles of today’s youth, urging listeners to confront the harsh realities faced by the younger generation.

“See my heart cry for the youths, oh mama try / Let’s liberate,” Lutan Fyah calls for a collective effort to uplift the youth and guide them away from the pitfalls of society. He captures the pain and hopelessness felt by many in Jamaica and around the world, singing, “You think a likkle bit a time Rasta warn dem? / But dem cya see the youths dem pain.”

The collaboration also touches on themes of mistaken identity, systemic oppression, and the violence that has claimed so many lives. In a chilling verse, Lutan Fyah sings, “So many cases of mistaken identity / Another brother get lock dung inna jail / False information perpetrated by society / Some fail from cradle to the grave.”

It marks a significant moment for both artists. Lutan Fyah, praise Hunt for his professionalism  and experience, saying, “I grew up in this music business hearing about the Right Honourable Clive Hunt. I thought it was just Jamaican hype-up talk, then I read about him. When I met this man, it felt like I met a musical father figure who can guide my sound and creativity. Years after, we decided to create this song, and he liked it, so we moved forward from there.”

Hunt, whose career has left an indelible mark on reggae music, producing albums like Satta Massagana and countless other reggae classics spoke about his enthusiasm for the project: “Lutan Fyah is a favourite of mine, and I’ve always wanted to do something for him. So, myself alongside Chaka Scott, we co-produced it. Chaka actually suggested Lutan to me after hearing the rhythm.”

“My Heart Cries” is the second single on Hunt’s Nyabinghi Love rhythm, which has already featured reggae legend Maxi Priest with the title track, with more prominent names expected to join soon.

Lutan Fyah, a antic of Spanish Town St. Catherine has 18 studio albums and one live album. He first got a break release music on Buju Banton’s Gargamel Music. His last set was Longest Liva (2019), via Lock City Music Group. His other collaboration with Mista Savona titled We Want World Peace (feat. Bost & Bim) is currently charting at No. 13 in Norway.

“My Heart Cries” is now streaming on all major platforms.
