F.S., who featured on Skillibeng‘s “Not” and the breakout track “Whap Whap,” is calling out the EASTSYDE front runner for getting a record deal and leaving him and the rest of the crew high and dry.
In an interview preview with the Foundation Star (F.S.),he says that while he harbors no bad blood for Skillibeng’s success, he thinks the “Crocodile Teeth” deejay could have done more to help his EASTSYDE crew.
“Them grow with things, and you know rich people kinda selfish and just fi dem thing that, but me a the sharing person. Me know say if me did have dah glory deh me know seh Quenga haffi eat food, Rytical haffi eat food, the whole East Side haffi eat food. Him a seh him a East Side General and him want eat himself and him craven, him know him craven,” F.S. said about Skillibeng’s lack of leadership.
“Big up Skillibeng same way because him know a so me stay me aguh talk the truth,” Foundation Star continued.
F.S., born Dwayne Shane McCalla has a song titled “Chasing Dreams” produced by Ireland Boss set for release this Friday, February 2. He says he is for the people had he been the first to see international success from the crew, he would have given a helping hand back to the artists in the St. Thomas communities.
“Me wouldn’t do the same thing because we have two different hearts, and two different mindsets. We a fi the people. Some man a fi demself alone; we nuh do the selfish game,” F.S.said.
Skillibeng emerged on the music scene after his song “Brick Pon Brick” became a turntable favorite in Jamaica and the diaspora. He then released several singles between 2020 and 2021, including “Crocodile Teeth” produced by Johnny Wonder and scored a remix with Nicki Minaj. The song then peaked at No. 100 on the Billboard Hot 100. It is his highest-charting song, and “Crocodile Teeth” is certified Silver in the U.K. for selling 200,000 equivalent units in streams and sales.
Last year the 30 year old Skillibeng told Dj Akademiks in an interview that he is the leader the new school. “I wanted to be a Jamaican superstar until the realization of what I can really do came across, it was the relation of potential that I saw in putting out songs and stuff like that and that’s what I really use to sum up what I could become after passing that local goal,” he said.
As “Whap Whap” surpasses 41 million views on YouTube and 10 million streams on Spotify, F.S. says he does get publishing from the song, but he is not invited to perform the track with Skillibeng at the numerous festivals around where he makes stops, including Wireless Festival in Europe and Afropunk in Miami over the last two years.
