July 29, 2025 | World Music Views
American reggae band The Movement has entered the Billboard Reggae Albums chart this week at No. 7 with their 8th studio album Visions, making it the first original album released in 2025 to debut on the chart this year with just over 3000 units in streams and sales.
Visions, released July 18, under the R4RE label, features a string of fellow white reggae bands such as Tribal Seeds, Stick Figure, The Elovators, The Green and Nick Hexum.
The weekly sales and streaming-driven Billboard Reggae Albums chart ranks the most popular reggae albums in the U.S. based on consumption metrics measured in equivalent album units. Each unit accounts for one album sale, 10 individual track sales, 3,750 ad-supported streams, or 1,250 paid/subscription streams from the album.
The group form in 2003 in Columbia, South Carolina, then later relocating to Philadelphia, has built a loyal following with its blend of reggae, rock, hip hop, and acoustic music. Visions is their fifth project to hit the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart following One More Night (2010) — #1 , Side By Side (2013) — #2, Golden (2016) — #1 and Ways of the World (2019) — #1.
Also debuting this week at No. 10 is Collection: 50th State of Mind by Fiji The Artist, which enters the chart for the first time despite being released in 2018. The album’s posthumous chart entry follows Fiji’s death on July 23, 2025, as fans revisit his catalog in tribute.
In total 6 albums have debuted on the chart this year including Sister Nancy’s 1982 set “One Two,” Peter Tosh’s Greatest Hits (1987), Bob Marley’s Uprising (1980) and Vybz Kartel’s VIKING: 10 Anniversary (Deluxe).
The top of the Billboard Reggae Albums chart remains steady with catalog staples. Legend by Bob Marley & The Wailers holds the No. 1 spot for 289 week, followed by Hotshot by Shaggy and Dutty Classics Collection by Sean Paul making re-entries at No 2 and No. 3 respectively.
Stick Figure’s World On Fire, Wisdom and Set In Stone are at No. 4, 8 and 9 respectively. While UB40’s Greatest Hits remains at No. 5.
