In a heartfelt Instagram post, dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel has officially announced his engagement to long-time partner Sidem Öztürk, expressing his deep affection and gratitude for her unwavering support through his years of incarceration. The post captures an intimate moment where Kartel publicly declared his love, describing Öztürk as his “#1Wife.”
The message, filled with emotion and personal reflections, reads:

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, was released on July 31 after being in prison since 2011. He remains one of Jamaica’s most influential and prolific dancehall artists. Since his release, the relationship with Öztürk whom he said he proposed to before while interested has be the subject of several headlines. In a follow up post, he shared, “God bless this union.”
In an interview with Juan EP, Kartel shared how his fiancée, Sidem, found him by “stalking” his babymother’s Instagram to locate him, saying, “She actually stalked… one of my babymother’s Instagram… so she found me through my babymom’s Instagram.” Öztürk, a devoted fan, previously described her admiration as nearly “an obsession,” explaining, “I thought he was the most perfect man for me… so I just really wanted to meet him.”
Since then, the couple has embarked on a nine-year relationship. Kartel had confirmed plans to wed, revealing, “I proposed to her while I was in prison.”
