Kartel Prepares for First Show Post-Release on December 31

Dancehall star Vybz Kartel has become one of the most followed Jamaican-born artists on TikTok, according to a WMV survey.

While Shenseea leads the pack with 5.8 million followers, Vybz Kartel ranks fifth with 1.1 million followers, having ramped up his presence on the platform just a week ago. Sean Paul holds the second spot with 2.3 million followers, followed by Jada Kingdom with 2 million, and Bob Marley with 1.7 million in fourth place.

The “King Of The Dancehall” artist after being acquitted for murder has seamlessly adapted to TikTok. He’s been going live and sharing snippets of his daily activities with his Turkish fiancée, Sidem.

Some of the moments Kartel has shared include getting name exchange tattoos, visiting Devon House with his spouse to buy lunch, shopping with his daughter Adidja Anna Palmer (with whom he also made a TikTok dance), and hanging out and driving around with his two deejay sons, Jaheim (aka ‘Likkle Vybz’) and Raheim (aka ‘Likkle Addi’).

In the second part of his interview on Entertainment Report with Anthony Miller, Kartel offered some sobering advice to young artists after listing those on his radar as up-and-comers.

“Me like Budu Chop- Kraff Gad, 450, you know Chronic Law and Squash you know dem youth deh a my dog them deh, but me a talk like Skillibeng, couple youth like Rajawild, this youth yah from Ochi him full a Vybz to Pablo YG a whole heap a youth deh deh and nuff a dem nuh find themselves yet,” he assessed. “But member we a man we can see potential Inna youth and a whole heap a youth we send to the world.”

The 48 year old who has been one of the most newsworthy Dancehall topics for the last 20 years then offered advice to the new league of dancehall risers, on how to maintain longevity in the music business.

“Alright the first seven years of you career a the hardest, the first seven years is like the seven-year itch inch marriage, the hardest always try to remain as original as possible. Don’t make the hype get to you cause remember man a hype from Jesus days. Man a ride gold chariot, but form you break through them seven years deh you aguh have enormous experience estate can push you possibly for seven more years and you aguh have a sizable fanbase.”

On Friday Kartel announced that his first show will be held on December 31 in Jamaica in a deal with Downsound Entertainment. Shortly after the announcement, Palmer, along with his fiancé, his lawyer Is at Buchanan and former West Indies cricketer Marlon Samuel took a private jet out of Norman Manley International airport to St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The reason for the trip is to get treatment and therapy for his overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism). Hyperthyroidism due to Graves’ disease is, in general, controllable and safely treated and treatment is almost always successful according to the American Thyroid Association. Graves’ disease itself is rarely life-threatening, but it can lead to serious heart problems, weak bones, breakdown of muscle, eye disease, and skin disease.

On Saturday fans got a sneak peak into Kartel’s road to full recovery routine which includes healthy means and weight lifting in the gym. Seemingly exhausted Kartel posted on social media while lifting weights in the gym.
