KOUROU, French Guiana — On August 15, 2025, Vybz Kartel performed in French Guiana for the first time, headlining the third edition of the Boom Jam One Day Festival. The show formed part of his globe-trotting Worl Boss Tour, which now tallies at 17 cities across North America, Europe, the Caribbean and South America.

Kartel opened draped in the Jamaican flag before lifting the flag of French Guiana, a gesture that drew thunderous approval from the packed crowd. Fans waved banners of their own, turning the stage into a sea of color and amplifying the sense of connection between artist and audience.

For the occasion, Kartel wore a glittering two-piece suit created by French Guianese designer Marsal Textile, who had reached out to him via social media with a video. His name, “VYBZ KARTEL,” and the number “87” were emblazoned across the front. The outfit sparkled beneath the lights, paired with diamond-studded jewelry and oversized shades.

Ishawna joined Kartel on stage, for their song “Porn Flick” from the Billboard Charting album “VIKING: 10th Anniversary” and Bad Gyal Bamby, one of French Guiana’s homegrown stars, followed with a performance.

Other opening acts on the line-up included Mogesterne Kenny, DJ S E A D E and more.

Now in its third year, Boom Jam One Day has quickly grown into one of French Guiana’s leading music events. Staged in Kourou, a town known globally for its space center, the festival brings together Caribbean and African diasporic sounds while reflecting the territory’s own Creole, African, and Caribbean roots.
