As and her crew were about to leave the island, the American YouTuber and Gregory Wright, a member of her entourage, were both charged by police in Jamaica with the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, after two guns and 15 rounds total were found before their departure.
A source in the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) confirmed with World Music Views that “while preparing to depart the island, two persons were found to have been in possession of two 9mm pistols.”
The were both charged and pleaded guilty to separate counts of illegal possession of a firearm.
The pair paid the fines of approximately $5,300 USD each to avoid the jail time imposed on two popular Dancehall artists, who also pleaded guilty to the same charges over the last year.
Jayda’s attorney Michael Hemmings told Radio Jamaica that she will be paying the fine before departing the island. He also told the The Gleaner that Jayda Cheaves got no special treatment in having her case swiftly handled by the court.
