Fans unable to attend Vybz Kartel’s Freedom Street Concert in Kingston, Jamaica, can purchase official live streams for private viewing. While several TikTokers have announced plans to stream the concert on their platforms, one TikToker, badgal.Abbey, shared a different experience. After posting a video inviting her followers to watch the live stream of the December 31 event, she revealed that she received a politely worded letter instructing her to cease unauthorized streaming.
Since sharing the initial invite, she has gained over 10,000 followers on TikTok. However, she has since retracted the invite due to copyright infringement concerns, joking that she’s not upset about the situation. Tickets for the concert are priced as high as $12,500, while access to the live stream costs $28.
The dancehall icon, Vybz Kartel has expressed confidence in his ability to surpass reggae legend Buju Banton’s record-breaking U.S. tour earnings. In an ER interview at the launch of his Freedom Street Concert, Kartel declared his intent to secure a U.S. visa and achieve greater success. Acknowledging Buju as his mentor, Kartel stated, “Yes, I think I will top it.”
After Freedom Street, Kartel plans to embark on an extensive 2025 tour, with interest from U.S. promoter Live Nation to headline major events like the U.K.’s Wireless Festival and shows in Queens, New York. This marks a major step in his international career.
Buju Banton’s Overcomer Tour set the bar as the highest-grossing solo reggae tour of the 21st century, with an average ticket price of $300 and premium suite prices up to $8,500. Despite challenges, Buju completed nine capacity performances across U.S. and Canadian arenas, including a record-breaking show in Toronto with tickets reaching $1,449.
Kartel’s first major concert in over 13 years, Freedom Street, is scheduled for December 31 at Jamaica’s National Stadium, featuring an elaborate production and special guests such as Spice, Popcaan, and Skillibeng. Tickets range from $150 to $12,500. Kartel’s ambition reflects the growing demand for reggae and dancehall globally, fueled by the genre’s rising influence among millennials.
