MARKHAM, ON — After more than 16 years away from the Canadian stage, reggae and dancehall icon Capleton is making his highly anticipated return for the Soul Food Caribbean Festival: Fire in the Park on Canada Day, July 1, 2026, at Esna Park in Markham, Ontario.

According to festival promoter Boomaz, excitement around Capleton’s return has exceeded expectations, with ticket sales already reaching approximately 90 percent sold out weeks ahead of the event.

“Everybody in Canada has been anticipating this event,” Boomaz told World Music Views on Monday. “The response has been outstanding. People have been waiting a long time to see Capleton perform live again, and the ticket sales have reflected that excitement.”

A Long-Awaited Return

The decision to bring Capleton back to Canada was one Boomaz says he made with confidence after discussions with the artist’s management team.

“We were informed that Capleton hadn’t performed in Canada for over 16 years. That’s a major moment for reggae fans,” he explained. “Once all the travel documents and visa approvals were secured, we knew it was time to move forward. The anticipation started building immediately.”

Since the official announcement, interest in the event has continued to grow across the Caribbean and reggae communities throughout Canada.

Press Launch Scheduled

As part of the build-up to the festival, organizers are preparing for a special media and promotional launch on June 25, giving fans and industry stakeholders an opportunity to celebrate Capleton’s return and learn more about upcoming projects surrounding the artist.

“Everybody wants to see Capleton back in the Canadian market,” said Boomaz. “The energy surrounding his return has been incredible.”

Production Promises a World-Class Experience

Festival organizers are also investing heavily in production to ensure fans receive a memorable experience.

Capleton will be backed by his renowned Prophecy Band, while production duties are being coordinated by experienced event professionals, whose work on major Caribbean events in Canada has helped establish a reputation for quality entertainment.

“We’re putting together a great show,” Boomaz said. “The production team is strong, and fans can expect something special.”

Capacity Expected to Be Tested

With Esna Park’s reported capacity around 8,000 patrons, organizers believe attendance could surpass expectations.

“At the rate tickets are moving, we’re looking at numbers that could exceed 10,000 people,” Boomaz noted.

Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets early through official Soul Food Caribbean Festival outlets and authorized vendors across Canada.

The Soul Food Caribbean Festival brand continues to expand beyond Canada. Boomaz revealed plans are already underway for future events in New York later this year and a major festival staging in Jamaica in 2027.

“Our vision is to continue growing the Soul Food Festival internationally,” he said. “Canada is the start of another exciting chapter.”

Canada Day Meets “Fire in the Park”

The combination of Canada’s biggest national celebration and one of reggae’s most powerful performers promises to create a historic moment for Caribbean entertainment in the country.

For reggae lovers, dancehall fans, and supporters of conscious music, July 1 at Esna Park is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about events of the summer.
