“Who’s That Girl?” by American rapper Eve is now certified Gold in the U.K. by the British Phonographic Industry on Friday August 30. This is Eve’s first solo song to reach the milestone for selling 400,000 units in the country.
The song was the lead single from her second studio album, Scorpion (2001) released as a single on February 5, 2001, it was both her fifth US single and her debut single in Europe. The song quickly made an impact, peaking at number 47 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and reaching number six in the United Kingdom. VH1 also recognized the song’s significance by ranking it number 97 on their “100 Greatest Songs of Hip Hop” list.
Internationally it peaked at 42 in Belgium (Flanders), 15 in Wallonia, 10 in Denmark, 17 in France, 21 in Germany, 34 in Ireland, 46 in Italy, 16 in the Netherlands (Dutch Top 40), and 17 in the Netherlands (Single Top 100). It also reached 14 in Norway, 21 in Scotland, 29 in Sweden, and 8 in Switzerland. In the UK, it climbed to number 6 on the Singles Chart, 6 on the Dance Chart, and 3 on the Hip Hop/R&B Chart.
Her other girl certifications on the U.K. are the Gwen Stefani collaborations are “Let Me Blow Your Mind” (2001) the second single from the album and “Rich Girl” (2004) from Gwen’s debut solo album Love. Angel. Music. Baby.
