Come Closer by Nigerian hitmaker Wizkid feating Drake was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association on Tuesday. The song was the third single from Wizkid’s third studio album “Sounds Form The Other Side” which he refers to as an EP release by Starboy Entertainment and RCA Records. The achievement is also Wizkid’s third song to earn a Platinum certification in the US.
Both Wizkid and Drake wrote the song and Nigerian producer Sarz, real name Osabuohien Osaretin produced the track.
The song was recorded around the same time as the Diamond selling single “One Dance” by Drake featuring Wizkid.
“We were going back and forth with records when we made that, so big shout out to Drake – he always shows me love. That was pretty easy,” Wizkid told the BBC.

Drake and Wizkid’s relationship started in 2016 when Scepta played Wizkid’s song “Ojuelegba” for Drake which impressed the top selling hip hop artist to collaborate with the up and coming Nigerian singer.
“When I had the idea, I just sent it to him and was like ‘Yo, what do you think?’ and said ‘sounds wavy’… and the next day he sent me back a verse and that was it,” Wizkid continued.
The two would finally meet face to face two years after their chart topping song was released at London’s Annabel’s Club on Tuesday, July 10th that year.
Come Closer peaked at No. 54 on the Canadian Hot 100, No. 58 on the U.K. singles Chart, as well as No. 14 on the UK’s Hip Hop/R&B Chart, No. 38 on the US Billboard Rhythmic Chart and No. 29 on the US Hip Hip airplay Chart.
