Vybz Kartel aka the Worl’ Boss’ “Freedom Street” concert is set to take place on December 31 at Jamaica’s National Stadium. The New Year’s Eve show is presented by Downsound Entertainment, the organizers behind Reggae Sumfest, this historic event marks Kartel’s first live performance in 13 years and his debut as a headliner at the National Stadium. Tickets for the event go on sale August 31.
The Adidjahiem Records artist, announced his “Freedom Street” concert on Instagram with a bold caption, promising fans an unforgettable experience. In his post, Kartel declares:
“THE WAIT IS OVER!💥 After 14 long years, the Worl’ Boss is BACK and the countdown has begun to the most anticipated event in dancehall history – VYBZ KARTEL LIVE in concert on December 31 at The National Stadium, KINGSTON Jamaica.” Kartel emphasizes the significance of his return, referring to the concert as the most anticipated event in dancehall history. After 13 years, he’s ready to reclaim his place in the industry, “THIS. IS. FREEDOM STREET!!! Get ready for the BIGGEST, BADDEST, most EPIC New Year’s Eve Concert you’ve EVER seen. We’re talking about a NYE night that will rewrite the rules, shake the ground, and echo through the ages! This is not just a concert; this is an EVOLUTION!”
The artist describes the event as an epic, groundbreaking experience urging fans to: “Set your alarms because 🎟️ TICKETS ON SALE August 31 at 3 AM SHARP! These tickets are going to fly!!! Stay tuned to these pages for ticket tiers, descriptions, prices and where to get them!”
He explains the choice of the name for th concert saying its a symbol of his return to dominance in the dancehall space, “Freedom Street is more than a name; it’s a statement, a movement, and a declaration that the Worl’ Boss is here returning to his throne! This is your chance to witness history in the making, to be part of a night that will go down in history.”
Kartel told Anthony Miller of ER that he would be keep to have Skillibeng and Spice on the concert a few weeks ago. He is the second formerly incarcerated deejay to headline the National Stadium following Buju Banton’s “Long Walk To Freedom” concert held in March 2019.
The holiday season will see the staging of several concerts including Sting on December 26, Buju Banton and Beres Hammond’s “Intimate” on January 4, New Year’s Weekend. Further on January 18 rebel Salute returns for its 31st staging for one night only.
