April 10, 2024, marks the sixth anniversary of World Music Views® (WMV), a global music business magazine and chart show founded by our Editor-in-Chief Donovan Watkis. Over the past five years, WMV has become a pioneering force in the industry, respected and trusted by artists from around the world for news on new music music finance, accurate album and single sales, music certifications, investing, new artists, concerts, marketing, lifestyle and other related news accross genres.

WMV’s chart show, aired on YouTube as well as on TVJ during ER, serves as the first television program covering music streaming in Latin America & The Caribbean. Additionally, a radio version of the WMV® Chart Show was launched on June 8, 2018, broadcasted on Nottingham U.K.’s 97.5.

This year as WMV continues to celebrate the biggest artists and expand the platform’s reach Watkis reflects on the the publication’s impact: “Within 6 years, we helped to usher in and integrate Apple Music and Spotify, now complimentary services alongside YouTube which made reggae and dancehall music more measurable.

Artists, record labels and fan alike have been kept up to date on the latest in music and culture due to or strong dedication to reporting the facts about the dancehall, Afro, Latin and hip hop music developments worldwide. ”

The platform played a crucial role in being the first to highlight the value of TikTok for reggae and dancehall music, providing artists with explainer videos and marketing ideas to maximize their presence on the platform.

Since its inception in April 2018, WMV® has produced over 500 video episodes, reaching over 3 million people weekly across our platforms and partnership cable and television stations. The business-focused interviews, articles and podcast content have been syndicated to publications worldwide in partnership with he Jamaica Stock Exchange CBX Network, covering legal cases, NFTs, awards, exclusives, concerts, album reviews, and more.

Watkis expresses gratitude to industry organizations that provides exclusive and credible data over the last five years including the Spotify, IFPI, RIAA, Luminate, and the Grammys.
