“WTF VLAD!?” Reggae Legend Ziggy Marley Blasts Vladimir Putin Over Russia’s Attack On Ukraine

Reggae Legend Ziggy Marley is using his platform to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In an instagram post on Friday, the Dragon Fly singer posted an image of Vladimir Putin with the caption:

“WTF VLAD!? who here stands with #ukraine against bullyism ? I and I do!!
oil is a burden to humanity those who have it hold the world hostage to their whims
and those who want to control it have killed millions to do so for their war/ and domination machine. #seedemfakeleaders”

The ongoing war in Ukraine has seen over 170 people dead so far with the President Volodymyr Zelensky issuing a new video message Friday morning, urging resistance to the Russian invasion and criticizing Ukraine’s allies for not coming to their immediate assistance.

This morning, we are defending our country alone. Just like yesterday, the most powerful country in the world looked on from a distance,” he said in a Facebook video, appearing to refer to the United States.

“Russia was hit with sanctions yesterday, but these are not enough to get these foreign troops off our soil. Only through solidarity and determination can this be achieved.”

Zelensky added that the Ukrainian people are continuing to resist, “demonstrating real heroism. The enemy was stopped in most of the directions. There are fights going on … We will not tire.”

“In the sky over Kyiv (this morning), there was bombing. There was a fire at a residential apartment building. Such attacks on our capital haven’t occurred since 1941.” He said as he opened his speech.

NATO Leaders met to address what some are calling the the gravest threat to Euro-Atlantic security in decades and has deployed defensive forces to the eastern flank.

The eldest son of Bob Marley is known for using his platform to speak out against injustices all over the world.

In October last year the Grammy-winning Reggae superstar blasted the Singapore Government over plans to execute a man for marijuana possession.

The Singaporean man, Omar Yacob Bamadhaj, 41, was sentenced to death by hanging in February after authorities found him with 2 pounds of cannabis, which is considered a Grade A drug in the Southeast Asian country.  Singapore’s apex court dismissed Bamadhaj’s appeal on Tuesday, Channel News Asia reported.

Reacting to the reports on Instagram , Ziggy wrote, “So the government of #singapore is going to kill a human being for two pounds of cannabis. Is that just or moral?”

He asked the question, “Singapore what are you doing?” before registering his dissatisfaction with both the use of word “drug” in the news coverage and the sentencing.

Another dancehall artist to speak on the situation in Ukraine is Ishawna who questioned the moral authority of political leaders.

She doubled down with empathy and support for male Ukraine citizens over 18 who are conscripted to join the war.

Reggae star Alborosie also posted a fiery image with the caption “Terrorist”.
