2018 X-Factor winner Dalton Harris says he had a dream that he was skydiving with aliens. The singer made the revelation on Instagram on Friday with an image of himself raking a shades and Apple headphones. “I dreamt that I was skydiving with aliens on a different planet. Am I the alien or are they?” he questioned. Adding, “Perspectives and dimensions are my favourite new toys.”
The pansexual Jamaican born singer left Simon Collwell’s Syco Records after a year after he was unable to find a hit and his constant struggles with fame. He joined Strictly Come Dancing star Johannes Radebe on a UK stage tour titled House of JoJo in February.
In October 2020, the 2010 Digicel Rising Stars winner came out as pansexual, sharing his journey openly on social media but at the time Dalton Harris partner was not yet revealed. He posted the pansexual pride flag on Twitter and emphasized his personal growth and resilience, stating, “I am who I am.” Harris also addressed critics, expressing confidence in his identity and rejecting societal pressures. His revelation had followed a challenging week, during which he almost considered suicide. Despite the mixed reactions, Harris received significant support from fans for his courage and authenticity.
Earlier this year he also released Dalton’s Dream, a documentary co-directed by Kim Longinotto and Franky Murray Brown that intimately explores the challenging life of the talent show winner. The film showcases Harris’ talent and his struggle with fame, identity, and homophobia, particularly in Jamaica. The Guardian gave him a four star review.
In 2021, Dalton Harris’s partner was revealed as an Italian partner on TikTok, where he shared candid moments set to the song Cloud 9. After coming out as pansexual in 2020, Harris expressed gratitude for the support from fans. Despite receiving some negative comments, including suggestions that his relationship was a ploy for UK citizenship, Harris confidently responded, clarifying that his partner is Italian and affirming the authenticity of his relationship. Harris aims to raise awareness about pansexuality, particularly in Jamaica.
