YG Marley continues to ride the wave of success from his breakout hit, Praise Jah In The Moonlight, which becomes the only reggae song featured on Billboard’s Year-End 2024 Canadian Hot 100 Songs Chart, landing at No. 87. This marks YG’s first appearance on any Year-End Chart.
The song released independently on December 27, 2023 is certified Platinum in Canada for sales surpassed 80,000 units in streams and sales by Music Canada as of June 2024. Written by his mother, Lauryn Hill, and sampling Bob Marley’s Crisis, the song peaked at No. 20 and No. 34 on the Canadian Billboard Hot 100 and the U.S. Billboard hot 100 respectively during a 13-week run and has become the highest-streaming reggae song of the last five years, surpassing 379 million streams on Spotify as of December 2024.
The global hit also achieved Brit Certified Silver status in the UK (200,000 units) and Platinum in New Zealand (30,000 units), topping the New Zealand Songs Chart. It reached top chart positions in multiple countries, including the Netherlands, Switzerland, Portugal, and the UK, while securing notable rankings across Europe, the Americas, and Oceania.
Following his 2025 MOBO nomination as Best Caribbean Act, YG Marley, son of Rohan Marley, performed at Rolling Loud, Miami alongside Lauryn Hill.
Earlier this year he made debuts at Coachella and at Reggae Sumfest before releasing his follow up single, Survival, inspired by Bob Marley & The Wailers’ Babylon System.
Back on Billboard’s Year-End 2024 Canadian Chart, Bob Marley and The Wailers secure the No. 65 spot on the Canadian Year-End 2024 Top Artists chart, driven by the enduring popularity of Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and The Wailers, which ranks No. 76 on the Year-End 2024 Canadian Albums Chart.
