YG Marley’s “Praise Jah in the Moonlight” has fallen off the Billboard Hot 100 after 13 weeks. The reggae track which debuted at #66 the week of February 10, peaked at #34. With a BritCertified Silver certification in the UK, selling 200,000 units, it is the most successful reggae song released in the last 5 years.
Co-written with Lauryn Hill, Praise Jah In The Moonlight samples Bob Marley’s “Crisis” and garnered international success since its release in late 2023. It peaked at No. 5 on the UK Official Singles Chart and No. 1 on the UK Independent Singles chart. This marks the first reggae entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart since 2017.
Meanwhile in the Billboard Reggae Albums chart YG’s Grandfather Bob Marley’s “Legend: The Best Of Bob Marley and The Wailers” extends its record at #1 for 225 nonconsecutive week. The album which turns 40 on May 8, 2024 has sold more than 25 million equivalent units worldwide according to Island Records founder Chris Blackwell making it the most successful reggae album of all time.
“Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection” moves up to #2. “World On Fire,” “Set In Stone,”and “Wisdom” by Stick Figure are at #3, #4 and #6 respectively.
“Dutty Rock” by Sean Pail re-enters at #7. Marley’s “Exodus moves down to #9 and Damian “Jr Gong” Marley’s “Welcome To Jamwock” rounds out the top 10.
Over in the UK “Jump” by Tyla featuring Gunna and Skillibeng spends a sixth week at #1 on the Afrobeats Chart. It is Skillibeng’s longest charting song and it has sold over 100,000 units, seeing a seeking increase in sale in the US since its March 21 release.

“Jump” moves down form its peak at #38 last week to #44 this week on the Official Singles Chart.
While Tems’ “Love Me Jeje” debuts at #2 on the UK Afrobeats chart at #58 on the Official Singles Chart.
