YouTube, has added new sections to their Charts platform that promises to be” the only charts users need” to navigate the dynamic world of music.
The announcement comes after last year’s revelation that Shorts, YouTube’s short-form video feature, has played a pivotal role in nearly doubling artist’s reach including many from Jamaica. Impressively, Shorts is now racking up an astonishing 70 billion daily views as of September, up from 50 billion daily views in December 2022.
In a letter to WMV by YouTube Music CEO Lyor Cohen, the new mobile-friendly, multi-format Charts site, a brainchild of YouTube’s dedicated team. However, World Music Views has brought the same weekly chart model using YouTube’s 7 day cycle viewing numbers for the World Music Views Chart Show since April 2018 where we highlight the top streaming songs in the Caribbean, US, UK and Canada.
Key features of the YouTube Charts include dedicated Shorts Charts, offering real-time insights into the latest trends on Shorts. The addition of Daily Charts for Top Songs on Shorts and Top Music Videos ensures users can stay abreast of the rapidly evolving pace of music culture. To deepen the connection between artists and their fan base, new sharing capabilities have been integrated, allowing artists to celebrate wins and milestones in real-time.
“We’re introducing custom share cards for every chart appearance in every market, empowering artists to celebrate their achievements and commemorate these milestones with their fans,” Lyor said.
The integration of YouTube Music, allowing users to easily create Shorts with their favorite songs and listen to them on repeat, adds an extra layer of immersion into the music experience.
Cohen expressed his excitement about YouTube’s adoption of the Charts platform, describing it as a true reflection of global music culture and a celebration of artists and their success, echoing themishing of World Music Views.
The Top Songs on Shorts Chart offers users a glimpse into the most popular music trending among creators. This chart not only showcases the prowess of regional Shorts trends, but also highlights the transformation of these trends into global hits.
