YouTube continues to be the measuring stick for Jamaican music and V6 by Ireland Boss and Malie Don is enjoying a 7 weeks streak at the summit of the YouTube weekly chart in Jamaica according to data pulled by WMV from All access. The Danmatic Vizualz directed music video is a hot contender for song of the summer with over 1.9 million streams since its release just over a month ago (April 4, 2023). The song released by Ireland Records accumulated just over 600,000 views this week, which is 27,000 less than last week’s total.
Speaking exclusively with WMV about the production of the chart topper Ireland Boss said,
At a close second this week is the turntable hit “Drift” by Teejay which earned just under 600,000 views this week and moving up three spots. The St. James dancehall deejay’s debut album is set to drop later this year according to a release. The album will have 11 tracks with featured production and collaborations from top Level production with ‘Shaggy’, ‘Dexter Daps’, ‘Chronic Law’, ‘Skillibeng’ and ‘Afro B’. The title track “From Rags to Riches” has surpassed 60 million views on YouTube.
Still on this week’s YouTube chart in Jamaica, Byron Messia’s Talibans comes in at No. 3 and Najeeriii’s “Goon!” is at No. 4. Rounding out the top 5 this week is a new entry from Masicka “Tryant”. Other new entries on the this week include Sainty by Valiant #8, Paris by Skeng #9, Bad Habit by RajahWild #11, Nuh Trust Dem by chronic Law #17, and making her YouTube debut in Jamaica Alaine with See it Yah(with Dexta Daps) #19.
