At the $90 “250-edition Platinum-tier” there is the “Ziggy Marley: The Real Feeling” NFT. Holders are automatically entered to win a signed guitar from the Tomorrow People singer. Diamond holders will get 2 VIP tickets to a Ziggy concert and other perks.
Additionally, all Platinum NFT holders will receive a piece of Beach in Hawaii merch featuring exclusive NFT community artwork and a personalized video message from Ziggy Marley! Fulfillment steps for these perks will also be dropped into the OneOf vault on November 3rd, 2022.
“I remember where I was when I wrote that song, I was at the beach in Hawaii, looking at the ocean, just me, walking and that song just come to my head and that’s where it started. The songs we write usually have a realistic and reality behind it so that’s what ‘Beach In Hawaii’ was,” Ziggy said.
“I wrote it over a period of time because the next time I started writing I was on a cliff which is like the second verse ‘I’m on a rocky cliff”. So the song write from reality- and I don’t know when out put out that song we had a guest on it, Jake, a well established artist in Hawaii, he joined me on that song also. But yeah it was just a homage to Hawaii and things happening in my life at the time. It’s on the Love Is My Religion album, one of my favorite albums of mine. People like the song, one of my more popular songs on iTunes, it has a good vibe to it , it’s a good vibe song,” he continued.
“The version in the NFT is one of the original versions before the production went in on it, that is one of the coolest things, the best experience for me as a writer is when I first created it.”
Ziggy says all the proceeds from the NFT sales will go towards his charity.
“If me aguh do a NFT it a fi be fi some children,” Ziggy also admitted that he does not know how NFTs work. As for why he decides to make the proceeds go towards charity the platinum selling reggae artist says,
“Me whole life, it’s not about making it, my family is just that type of family, we start out poor then we move into better houses but we were always who we were. We grew up that way, it’s not about making it. We help people who didn’t have enough food, some people didn’t have sanitary facilities, we build sanitary facilities.”
He said it’s not about the money.
“We started ‘URGE- Unlimited Resources Giving Enlightenment’ cause is not about the money it’s about giving love also, the stuff thats unlimited, not physical, its part of that this is just who we are.”
Ziggy said he got interested in partnering with One Of because of their climate responsibility mission.
“One of the main things that came up is the idea of the Green NFT and I say somebody explain it to me, the Green thing that’s involved made me interested.”
One Of says, “The amount of energy it takes to mint our token on our platform is the same amount of energy it takes to send out a tweet and a portion of our proceeds go toward climate control..we ensure what we do is sustainable.”
Los Angeles artist Jim Mahfood aka Food One is the muralist and comic book artist who is in charge of designing the NFT. Jim has been working professionally as an artist since 1997, amassing an impressive cult following across the globe. His comic book work includes illustrating filmmaker Kevin Smith’s “Clerks” comics as well as illustrating various Spider-Man projects at Marvel Comics.
Jim describes himself as a comic book enthusiast who morphed into a professional illustrator who does album covers and more.
He and Ziggy shares that affinity for collecting comics, “I was drawing too Jim but I didn’t make it” they laugh.
Ziggy told WMV during the Twitter Spaces that a Bob Marley NFT might be in the making.
“It possible, we even more vigilant with Bob thing but we will see.” He also says there may be an album on the way in 2023.
“A big screen thing, touring, making music as usually, dropping singles and thing next year and probably an album, we take it day by day.”
Beach In Hawaii is track 6 from the 2006 Grammy winning album Love Is My Religion. The album spent 17 weeks on the Reggae Albums chart and peaked at No. 6.
