Nicki Minaj Drops Likkle Miss (Remix) With Dancehall Artist Skeng

Nicki Minaj dropped Likkle Miss (Remix) with Skeng on her YouTube channel on Sunday night. The two filmed the video in New York City at the end of August as they met in the big apple face to face for the first time.

The music video was shot in the pink lit CBR Media studios with Rolls Royce and a Ferrari parked inside. Dancers choreographed by King Kayak and torch bearers kept the music video authentically dancehall as the two delivered their verses individually and at times together. This is Skeng’s first international collaboration which stemmed from Minaj expressing her love for his original “Likkle Miss” song.

She quickly recorded a verse and released the remix which peaked in the top ten on iTunes charts- Skeng’s first top ten. The Barbie Queen Of Hip Hop had posted a video on her instagram with instructions to go listen to their song “Likkle Miss Remix” with both the Trini and Jamaican flags.

In the “Likkle Miss” (Remix) music video directed by  Andre “DreVinci” Jones and ‘G-Town’, Minaj sports pink hair and bling bling, switching white and black outfits. Skeng is seen sporting a full Fendi suit, a brand​ linked to​ Minaj. On October 14th 2019, The Roman Reloaded rapper and Fendi released a clothing collaboration called “Fendi Prints On”, a line from the song ‘Chun Li’ from her 2018 “Queen” album. The clothing line consisted of a female collection as well as a male collection. The full collection worth over $10M was sold out online within a week.

While accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award, at the MTV VMAs 2022, Minaj thanked a slew of people who ‘inspired her flow’ and ‘gave her huge opportunities’. Among the people thanked were “Beenie Man and all of Jamaica.” After which she said “I have to thank Drizzy for always saying the things I need to hear to get me back in the game.” During the speech she gave a shout out to Skeng.

Minaj, 39, has done several dancehall collaborations with Gyptian, Mavado, Beenie Man and recently with Skillibeng for Crocodile Teeth.

The last time the Hip Hop Queen was in Jamaica as the headliner for Reggae Sumfest in 2011, the then 2 year old was approached by Jamaican police soon after she left the stage and told she had violated the Towns and Communities Act, which is a British colonial law that fines persons for “obscenity in a public place”. She was issued a court summons for 28 July.

Skeng is set to drop the first single from his upcoming 6 track Ep. “Ratty Gang” on September 30 ahead of an October release. In a statement to World Music Views from his management team he said producers on the project include Rvssian, Di Truth and others. The statement said that all the tracks on the Ep. will be brand new songs and “Likkle Miss” (Remix) with Minaj will not be on the debut project.

Nicki’s other single “Super Freaky Girl” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard hot 100. It is her third no. 1 song.“Likkle Miss” (Remix) peaked at No. 2 on iTunes Hip Hop chart. It is Skeng’s first song to​ reach​ that achievement.
