The anniversary release features collaborations with Selena, Maluma, and Pharrell, alongside B-sides, remixes, and previously unreleased material.
Beyoncé is celebrating two milestones at once. In honor of the 20th anniversary of her sophomore album, B’Day, and her 45th birthday, the superstar has released an expanded deluxe edition of the 2006 record.
The newly remastered digital edition stretches B’Day to 31 tracks, bringing together the original album’s favorites with archival recordings, B-sides, remixes, Spanish-language versions, and new collaborations.
One of the most notable additions is “Irreemplazable (Como La Flor),” featuring the late Selena Quintanilla. The track blends Beyoncé’s Spanish-language version of “Irreplaceable” with Selena’s signature “Como La Flor.” Permission for the posthumous collaboration was granted by Selena’s estate, according to Parkwood Entertainment. Beyoncé has previously spoken about the fellow Texas icon’s influence on her Spanish-language recordings during the B’Day era.
Beyoncé also teams with Maluma for the first time on “Cuerpo (Tumbao),” a reworking of “Get Me Bodied” that incorporates elements of Celia Cruz’s “La Negra Tiene Tumbao.” Beyoncé produced the song alongside Edgar Barrera and CASTA, with Ali “Ali Ali” Alvarez serving as co-producer.
The deluxe edition opens Beyoncé’s vault as well. “Lost Yo Mind,” “Creole,” and “Back Up,” recordings that didn’t make the original B’Day album, have been added to the expanded tracklist. “My First Time” reaches even further into her catalog, dating back to sessions surrounding her 2003 debut album, Dangerously in Love.
Another previously unheard highlight is “Can I Watch You,” produced by Beyoncé and Pharrell. The anniversary set also features “Morning Dew (Donk),” which arrived in July ahead of the album’s 20th anniversary, as well as material connected to its subsequent JAY-Z-assisted remix.
For collectors, the physical editions offer a slightly different experience from the 31-track digital release. Beyoncé’s official store is offering a four-LP deluxe edition pressed on 180-gram blue vinyl and packaged with a 60-page commemorative booklet and two double-sided art prints. Two-LP and CD editions are also available.
Originally released September 4, 2006, B’Day became a defining chapter in Beyoncé’s solo career, producing hits including “Déjà Vu,” “Irreplaceable,” “Ring the Alarm,” and “Beautiful Liar.” The album went on to win Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 2007 Grammy Awards.
Twenty years later, Beyoncé is giving the era another moment in the spotlight — this time with a much deeper trip into the B’Day vault.
