A Jamaican classic has found new life on the global stage, as HUGEL and SOLTO (FR)’s “Jamaican (Bam Bam)”earns a place on Spotify’s Songs of Summer 2026 list, ranking No. 6.
Released on November 7, 2025, the Afro-house track is a sped up modern reinterpretation of Jamaican dancehall pioneer Sister Nancy’s 1982 dancehall anthem “Bam Bam.”
The new version has become a major streaming success. “Jamaican (Bam Bam)” has accumulated more than 347 million streams on Spotify, according to current Spotify data, making it HUGEL’s most popular track on the platform at present.
Its chart performance has been similarly international. The song reached No. 36 on the Billboard Global 200, while climbing to No. 7 on Billboard’s U.S. Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart and No. 2 on World Digital Song Sales. It also reached No. 34 on the UK Singles Chart, No. 6 in France, No. 5 in Switzerland, No. 10 in Austria and No. 12 in Germany.
The success adds another chapter to the extraordinary history of “Bam Bam.” Sister Nancy, born Ophlin Russell, recorded her version in 1982, building on the earlier Jamaican musical foundations of the The Maytals’ Festival song “Bam Bam” and the famous “Stalag” riddim. Her recording subsequently became one of reggae and dancehall’s most widely sampled songs, appearing in music connected to artists including Lauryn Hill, Kanye West and JAY-Z.
Spotify’s summer list stretches across genres
“Jamaican (Bam Bam)” is accompanied by international records on Spotify’s Summer Songs of 2026 selection. Shakira and Burna Boy’s “Dai Dai” also makes the list, while Burna Boy appears again alongside Gunna on “wgft.” Ghanaian duo DopeNationare represented with “Kakalika.”
Some of music’s biggest stars also appear. Ariana Grande’s “hate that i made you love me,” Drake’s “Janice STFU,” Olivia Rodrigo’s “drop dead,” Don Toliver’s “E85,” PinkPantheress’ “Girl Like Me,” Zara Larsson’s “Midnight Sun” and Dominic Fike’s “Babydoll” are among the songs selected.
The list also includes Yung Miami’s “Spend Dat,” Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas,” Morgan Wallen’s “Been By Now,” Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s “Rein Me In,” Tame Impala and JENNIE’s “Dracula,” Dave and Tems’ “Raindance,” Omar Courtz’s “KOKO” and several other records spanning dance, pop, hip-hop, Afrobeats, country and Latin music.
Spotify’s final reveal particularly spotlighted five tracks: Ariana Grande’s “hate that i made you love me,” Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas,” Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s “Rein Me In,” Shakira and Burna Boy’s “Dai Dai” and Yung Miami’s “Spend Dat.”
